I have set up my application data folder to redirect to a network share. It works fine, and I can see it get created, and it stores the info it seems just fine. When I log out and back in on the same pc, it works fine. However, when I log out and back in on a different pc, (creating a new profile for that user) and start outlook (or word or any office app), it starts its first time setup with the installer, but fails. I then get the following in the application log:

I notice that we keep receiving a pair of warnings in our Windows Application Event log, as follows :- 1). Event ID - 1004 MsiInstaller Detection of product '{54F84805-0116-467F-8713-899DFC472235}', feature 'SQL_Engine_Core_Shared', component '{B46C0736-6483-42D0-8CB7-6AE45B8F8B7E}' failed. The fact it repeats over and over again, leads me to believe that there must be an underlying issue which needs addressing, but if anyone could confirm this, and what course of action is required, I would be very much obliged. Many thanks

It works fine on that computer if I turn off the redirected Application Data folder, and the installer finishes fine. Any ideas? Thanks!

Windows Events provides a standard, centralized way for applications (and the operating system) to record important software and hardware events. The event-logging service stores events from various sources in a single collection called an event log. Prior to Windows Vista, you would use either Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) or Event Logging to log events. Windows Vista introduced a new eventing model that unifies both ETW and the Windows Event Log API.
The installer also writes entries into the event log. These record events such as following:

If a large amount of information is written, the Event Log file can become full and the installer displays the message, 'The Application log file is full.'
The installer may write the following entries in the event log. All event log messages have a unique event ID. All general errors authored in the Error table that are returned for an installation that fails are logged in the Application Event Log with a message ID equal to the Error + 10,000. For example, the error number in the Error table for an installation completed successfully is 1707. The successful installation is logged in the Application Event Log with a message ID of 11707 (1707 + 10,000).
For information about how to enable verbose logging on a user's computer when troubleshooting deployment, see Windows Installer Best Practices.

You can import localized errors strings for events into your database by using Msidb.exe or MsiDatabaseImport. Gfi webmonitor with crack. The SDK includes localized resource strings for each of the languages listed in the Localizing the Error and ActionText Tables section. If the error strings corresponding to events are not populated, the installer loads localized strings for the language specified by the ProductLanguage property.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218 is not a solution to my problems. I have worked through this solution and it did not resolve the issues. I even totally uninstalled Office 2010 and reinstalled MS Office 2010 Enterprise N x64 along with MS Visio 2010 x64.
I don't think the problem is with the Office suites but with the MS Installer package as this also effects Adobe, iTunes and other products. I even went so far as to try and upgrade from Vista x64 toWindows 7 Enterprise Nx64 and after running through the compatability checker and migration tool, I was unable to upgrade but had to create a second boot partition on my primary SAS drive (which I really did not want to do).
Much respect to the moderator who checked this as 'A' solution, but I have unchecked it as an answer because, there seems to be a lot of people who have experienced this same or similar problems dating back to XP and there should be a clear and consise solution in the Microsoft KB.
This is an annoying and inconvienent problem as I use this particular machine as my home/office workstation (much respect to my company for providing me a very nice developers laptop) but 8G of ram and 2TB of disk and a 20+ in LCD trumps 4GB ram and 14 in screen anyday. :).
I am almost to the point where I may build out a newer machine (gotta have a new toy) and try a fresh install. I have too much work to risk on some corruption down the line.
There really should be a way to totally upgrade your existing system by installing over the top and then laying in your old registry and having the OS smart enough to transform that into the new OS resgistry structure.
